Christmas Opening Times 2016/2017

We are closed from Wednesday 21st December to Thursday 5th January inclusive.  There are yoga workshops on details are on the yoga timetable section.  You can book classes for January and or vouchers up until Tuesday 20th in the studio or anytime online.  Why not give a voucher for Pilates Mat or reformer, Keep Fit, Personal Training or massage/FSM therapy!  See you before Christmas or on 6th January and wishing you all a very merry Christmas and happy new year,

From Tuesday 1st September to Tuesday 8th September inclusive (ONLY) show us this newsletter on  your phone or tablet and bring a friend who hasn’t been to us before to try any one matwork class – so that’s pilates mat or circuit training as per the timetable, only one person, one class and you must be an existing client with us.  The usual Terms and Conditions on our website or available at reception apply.

Why Exercise?

Why Actually Exercise at all?

Stress: - Studies have shown exercise is a great way to create natural endorphins to help you combat stress.

Memory:- your brain will get more oxygen which studies have shown can boost your memory

Posture:- Bad posture leads to ineffective lung volume and reduces the optimum function of internal organs and can contribute to such conditions as decreased motility of the intestines.  Slouching can create excessive forces on the vertebrae and discs, leading to back and/or neck pain, headaches, lack of muscle balance.

Sleep:- Regular exercise can help you sleep better.  We also offer mindfulness and yoga classes to combine with your regular exercise for best results.

Energy:- regular exercise makes us feel more energised throughout the day

Metabolism:- The only two ways to ‘rev’ your metabolism is to move and to eat!! – find out your basic metabolic rate with our Tanita body composition monitor.

Learn about mindfulness and self-compassion and how to use the practices to calm and soothe yourself in your daily life.

When:- Mondays 18.00-19.30

This course runs for 6 weeks from September 19th until October 24th

Monday Reformer: 10.30 am,  7.15pm

Tuesday Matwork: 9.15am, 6pm, 7.30pm

Please note there will be no circuit training from 15th August to 28th August.  Normal online timetable will resume on Monday 29th August.  The reformer classes booked online will differ by 15 minutes on Monday and Friday.

 

Circuits are Monday 8pm, Wednesday 6pm, Thursday 8.15 Pm until 14th August.

Vinyasa Flow Yoga with Claudia Gutierrez summer 2016

Claudia has been working as a Yoga, Fitness instructor, PE teacher for more than 30 years.  As a former gymnast who represented her country (Argentina) in international competitions and coached a few champions herself, we are delighted to welcome her to The Core Studio Ltd Glasthule.  Claudia has a skilled mix of knowledge in anatomy, kinesiology, physiology, developmental and bio mechanical movement.  Her classes can offer the client to reconnect with themselves and discover how strong and powerful they can be.  Her classes are client centred, adapting each class to the participants specific needs, which is what the Core Studio is all about, working within our limits in a safe caring environment.

Workshop description;

Prepare for a deeply pampering restorative yoga and positive affirmations and visualisations that will take you on a journey of peace and relaxation to prepare our heart and soul to receive a blissful wave of unconditional love to increase self esteem and self love.  Restorative yoga postures melt away physical and mental tension, assisting the bodes processes of healing injuries and recovering from illness by releasing tension.

Claudia will use props to support the body, encouraging deep relaxation.  Using passive asanas we let the nervous system shift and enjoy the benefit of true rest.  The focus will be to calm and nurture ourselves on all levels.  Claudia will use Chakra meditations and visualisations to help restore the balance of mind, body and spirit.  Finishing with a beautiful, gentle, powerful yoga nidra.

Get In Shape This Spring 2016

5 week only Circuit Training incorporating hard style Kettle bells with Nicky begins next Tuesday 12th April 7.30 – 8.30.  This is a great way to kick start your new regime if you’ve slipped from your January resolutions. Cost E50.00.  Book now by texting 087-6338994.  Circuit training at The Core Studio Ltd is suitable for all levels and is a mixture of aerobic and anaerobic  exercises designed and set out in a way to challenge you safely.  we safely raise your heart rate (a HR monitor is compulsory for these classes), monitor your recovery time as it progresses.   There is a pulse check at the beginning and end of the session.  We believe in muscle balance and functional movement – the body needs all muscles to work correctly together otherwise the minor (synergist) muscles get overlooked and become weak which can lead to complications and injury.  In daily life we move using a series of complex signalling from the brain and nerves to innervate the muscle to do the required action.  Therefore there is little point in working muscles in isolation, it is not how we were designed to move.  We put HUGE emphasis on the core muscles and not just the ‘pretty six-pack’ which is only a surface muscle its all the deeper ones that often get neglected and these are all important for Core strength and back strength and health.  There are a variety of circuit training classes available – Monday 8pm, Wednesday 6pm, Thursday 8.15pm and Friday 10.30 am – these classes can all be booked online.  So Start to exercise your right to a decent quality of physical health and live longer, look younger and feel a whole heap better!!
